Meet the Staff
Dan Goodson
My wife Deb and I have been directing the ministry of Cru at Cal since 2008. After growing up outside of Cleveland, I went to Miami University of Ohio to study Secondary Education. I would say it was through a Campus Crusade for Christ Bible study that I really began to understand what it meant to have an authentic relationship with God. After graduation, I served with CCC at the University of Illinois, and then Cal Poly SLO, working part-time with Athletes in Action along the way. Deb and I have two children, Kate (born in 2007) and Andrew (born in 2009). I enjoy studying God’s Word, baseball, National Parks, Taco Bell, and I’m more than fine with mediocre gas station coffee.

Deb Goodson
I grew up in the Silicon Valley and love living in the Bay Area again. I graduated from UCLA with a degree in Psychobiology in 2002 and enjoy traveling around the world, discussing current events and decorating on a budget. I began a relationship with Christ in kindergarten, but it wasn’t until my freshman year at UCLA through Campus Crusade that I really made God my number one priority. God used my time in college to grow my heart for the world and develop a passion for investing in eternity. I love leading women and teaching them how to walk with Jesus Christ for a lifetime. I have been on staff with Campus Crusade since 2002 and served at UCLA and Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo. Our family moved to Berkeley in August of 2008 to direct the ministry here.

Justin Nakamura
“Hi, I’m Justin! I’m a SoCal native who graduated from Cal in May 2010 with a degree in Industrial Engineering and Operations Research. Don’t let my major fool you; while I was a student I actually went outside, bathed, had a life, etc. One of the best parts of my UC Berkeley experience was my involvement with Cru and the spiritual growth I experienced there. I decided to intern with Cru so I could be a part of God’s work to raise up spiritual leaders at Cal and send them out into the world. I like running before breakfast, strumming with a medium pick, and puns.”

Dustin Kegeris
I was born, raised, and spent the first 22 years of my life in the great state of Illinois. It was during my time in college at the University of Illinois that God changed my heart and burdened me for the college campus. While on a summer project in New Jersey before my senior year I met Bethany, and realized two important things: I wanted to join staff with Cru and I wanted to marry Bethany. The next year I moved to California and interned for a year with Cru at Cal-Poly San Luis Obispo. Bethany and I were married in June 2009, and from there we were placed on staff at Cal, where we currently are now! My favorite things in life are good coffee shops, Illini basketball, reading, date nights with my wife, anything Apple, running outside, new technology, and playing almost any sport.

I was born and raised in California. I graduated from Cal Poly SLO in a degree in Applied Nutrition in 2009. I absolutely loved my college experience! It was in college where I surrendered my life to Jesus Christ and began my relationship with God. God used my friends, major, and overall college experience to change my heart and call me on staff with Campus Crusade for Christ. God especially used my summer in New Jersey. It was there that my passions for college students were confirmed. Another great part of that summer was that I met my incredible husband, Dustin, there. In the summer of 2009 I married Dustin and joined staff. I have been blessed since! Some of my favorite things are going on adventures with my husband, running, hiking, reading a good book, traveling, the beach, crafts, cooking, and having a good conversation with friends.

Melissa Adams
I grew up in a small, northern California town called Fortuna and recently moved to Seattle. I’m a fourth year at Cal studying Sociology and Turkish, and I’m serving as a part-time intern with Cru this year! I have been involved with Cru since I was a freshman, and I have been radically transformed in college as God has used people in this ministry to help me grow as a follower of Christ. I love sharing with others how they can also come into an intimate relationship with the Lord and cultivate that relationship for the rest of their lives. During my time in Berkeley, I’ve loved spending some of my time as a volunteer at Oakland International High School helping recent immigrants and refugees learn English and as a Peer Advisor for the Sociology Department. I absolutely love traveling and getting stamps in my passport (at six and counting)! Upon graduation, I will be on STINT, Cru’s internship abroad, for a year (possibly two) doing full-time ministry!

Rebecca Chambers
I grew up in the Central Valley of California (think lots of dairies and crazy hot summers!) before moving to Berkeley as an undergrad at Cal. I recently graduated with a degree in History, which meant that my four years as a student were spent getting lost in Dwinelle, writing long papers, and drinking coffee! More importantly, though, it was during college that God showed me my continual need for the gospel and taught me to walk with Him daily – lessons I am still in the process of learning! I’m excited now to be working with Cru at Cal and am growing increasingly passionate about being part of God’s work around the world. I also love reading good books, exploring new places, having good conversations with friends, and spending afternoons at coffee shops!

I was born and raised in the fertile soil of California’s central valley and then moved to beautiful San Luis Obispo where I studied Spanish and French at Cal Poly. While at Cal Poly I got involved with Cru and learned about the abundant life that Jesus offers. After graduation I spent two years as a Cru intern at Cal Poly, and I am so very glad to be a Berkeley transplant! Nothing gets me more excited than seeing God at work in the lives of people around the world. What a joy it will be to see what He has in store for students at Cal! Some of my favorite tiny joys in life are waking up early (crazy, I know), french press coffee, good conversations, playing music with friends, samples from Trader Joe’s, and reading.
